Bioprospects the hemolymph of Chrysomya megacephala blowfly larvae, which develop in decaying matter, for antimicrobial peptides: larvae are challenged with MRSA, the hemolymph is fractionated by RP-HPLC, active fractions go to QTOF-LCMS, and the spectra are read by de novo sequencing rather than searched, since no database covers this species. The resulting sequence is screened against the APD3, DBAASP, dbAMP and CAMPR4 repositories.
